Last week’s historical election was a great accomplishment, but it is only the first step in reclaiming our nation and re-establishing a government which is truly of, by, and for We The People. Our job is not done.
In the midst of the Great Depression of the 30s, several titans of American industry approached General Smedley Butler in hopes that he would be willing to lead a military overthrow of the U.S. government. These men – including Prescott Bush – were traitors by every definition of the word, literal and figurative.
Instead of cooperating, General Butler reported the plot to FDR; however, since the cooperation of these rich and powerful men was needed for the passage of the desperately needed New Deal, he struck a deal with them rather than prosecuting: if they dropped all political opposition to his plan, he would not have them charged, and their crimes would be swept under the rug. It was a politically expedient, understandable, practical decision. However, it also left the avarice-driven criminals running free amongst us. Prescott Bush was elected to the U.S. Senate, and here we are.
Richard Nixon did not get away with his “if the President does it, it’s not illegal” modus operandi, but he was pardoned, the full truth will never be known, and far too many guilty parties were never held accountable. They were left free to become operatives in future administrations, and here we are.
While the much-loved, charming and well-meaning (but ill-equipped) Ronald Reagan smiled for the cameras, a shadow government wheeled and dealed, arranged for the overthrow of duly democratically elected leaders of other countries when they refused to play ball with ours, and even equipped and funded TERRORISTS in South America and the Middle East. Most were pardoned, left free to rise to positions of power again, and here we are.
Ours was meant to be a nation of laws, not of individual men; and the Rule of Law cannot truly be re-established in our nation until criminals – ALL criminals – are held accountable for their actions. Justice is supposed to be blind (i.e. applied equally and impartially), not deaf nor dumb. Time and time again people of their ilk have been excused and/or forgiven; time and time again they have scurried back under their rocks for a time, steamed and schemed, then risen again, more powerful – and dangerous – than ever before.
We are so heartsick, bone-tired, and soul-suckingly weary of this whole mess… and it would be so-o-o-o much easier to say, “Forget it, it’s OVER, that’s what matters.” But our nation’s treasury has been emptied (looted from the INside), tax-dollars squandered through billions in bailouts and no-bid contracts, our national economy and constitutional protections hang in tatters, and most importantly more than one million formerly living, breathing men, women and children – including thousands of our own citizens – are now DEAD or MAIMED FOR LIFE due to the current administration’s megalomaniacal, avarice-driven agendas and bald-faced lies!
If they are not corralled and charged – if yet another politically expedient, understandable, practical decision to “forgive all” and “work together” for “the sake of the country” is made – these world-class, white-collar criminals will be free to rise yet again in another 15 or 20 years, wreaking exactly the same kind of heart-wrenching, soul-screaming, constitution-shredding havoc upon our children and grandchildren.
THEY WOULD HAVE NO REASON NOT TO!
Vincent Bugliosi, John Dean, Elizabeth Holtzman, Dave Lindorff & Barbara Olshansky, and others have fully documented many of the high crimes and misdemeanors that have been committed by the Bush/Cheney administration. The essential facts are already well established. All that we are lacking is the will of our [supposed] representatives on the Hill and the eternally-triangulating party misleadership in the House of Representatives who have completely failed to honor their oaths to uphold and defend the Law of the Land.
From The Constitution of the United States of America:
Section. 2.
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.
Excerpts from The People’s Email Network today…
Impeach Bush Before He Pardons Himself
According to Seymour Hersh there is a conga line of insiders waiting until January 20th to spill the beans on the gross criminality of the Bush/Cheney administration. Waiting . . . because if they did it now two of them would be tarred and feathered on the way out the door.
But we the people do not have to wait. We can and must demand the immediate impeachment of both Bush and Cheney for what is already known. At the very least the defiance of congressional subpoenas at the behest of the White House is an open and shut case for accountability now.

Because as his final constitutional insult, his final spit in the face to the American people and all rule of law, it is transparently obvious that Bush is planning the most wholesale and wrongful pardon of the worst political criminals in American history, his whole criminal gang, INCLUDING himself.
And don’t think that is not their precise plan. Please, what power has Bush NOT abused? What heinous, self-serving, shameless and dishonest act has he ever shied away from, when he was torturing and eavesdropping and lying us into wars of corporate aggression. Does anyone doubt that is what he is planning on doing? …
… Will Congress now act? That is not the yardstick of the worth of our activism. We speak out because we must speak out, whether we are heeded or not. Let history record that we spoke out until the last minute to the eternal shame of those who did not. Because when enough of us speak out at once, the worst thing that can possibly happen is that we are building the progressive base for the REAL change of the future.
So Bush most certainly is planning on pardoning himself. And all the right wing lock down ideologues in the corporate controlled media will call it “healing”. Let’s all make nice with war criminals? Shall we all make nice with the gang rape of our economy, our environment and our Constitution? We think not.
Definitely *NOT* !

You are deceiving yourself about Obama being some kind of savior who is going to deliver the government back to the people. There is a long range agenda that involves both the so-called Left and the Right playing a Good Cop/Bad Cop to gradually crank up the heat on the boiling frogs until they are fully cooked. The time when the frogs notice the heat the least is when their own candidate is in office. You clearly need a reality check. Read Carrol Quigley’s books, study the Fabian Society, Council on Foreign Relations etc until you finally see that Obama is a part of the same elite aristocracy and has no intention to bring freedom, love and all that other happy horseshit that you apparently believe.
Welcome, PJ!
Unfortunately, you have jumped to some hasty and inaccurate conclusions. There is no happy horseshit here. I don’t see Barack Obama as ‘a savior’ at all – that’s why I stated “Our job is not done” above, and said “A Great Start!” on my home page, as well.
We The People were able to decide this election, overcoming an untold number of Reptilian election shenanigans (voter-roll purges, etc.), and that was a major accomplishment – something to be proud of. If we had not been able to do so, there would have been NO hope at all. There is reason to take a quick break and rejoice for a bit before we put our noses back to the grindstone, as the saying goes.
That said, this IS only the *VERY FIRST STEP* toward wresting control of our government from the grasp of the avarice-driven, multinational Entitled Ones whose plan was (and is) to force the ‘bottom’ 95% of the world’s population to live and die in service to them.
If you’d like to jump down from your (Libertarian?) high-horse for awhile and spend some time reading my blog, perusing its sister-site (jollydodgers.com/home.html), and following my tweets (http://twitter.com/JDArtist), you’ll see that I have been reality-checking for quite some time now. And I have never hesitated to criticize members of *either* party.
I’ve been reading extensively for years, one of my favorite books is Naomi Kline’s “Shock Doctrine,” and I would be willing to bet that you and I would agree far more than we would disagree. That is, if you would care to carry on a rational discussion rather than assuming that you’re able to read my mind and feeling that you have the right to cast aspersions on my character and question my cognitive abilities. Such are the tactics of a small and stubborn mind, and I refuse to waste time engaging in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
The ball’s is your court.
